Bill Spaceman Lee

70's LSD and Baseball sounds like tons of fun.
According to my boy Ben(who just posted an awesome piece on the Expos on his blog), I need to read Bill Lee's book(s)
The Habs sucking the life out of me right now makes me miss the Expos even more

Decarie Hot dogs

Drove past Decarie Hot dogs today and the french fry smell immediately reminded me of my childhood. Decarie makes (in my mind) the best hot dogs in the city. I used to ride my bike there as a kid and with my few savings buy myself french fries for a dollar and hot dogs for fifty cents. I can't forget to mention its one of the few spots left where you can get a coke in a glass bottle. The friendly service has never changed, due to the fact it's always been run by the same family. If you're ever in Montreal I strongly recommend stopping by for a bite of Montreal history. I could definitely use one of these hot dogs just about now...

The end of an era

On March 11, 1996, the Montreal Canadiens played their last game at the Montreal Forum, beating the Dallas Stars 4-1. Located at the northeast corner of Avenue Atwater and Rue Ste-Catherine Ouest, the building was historically significant as It was home to 26 Stanley Cup championships (24 of the Canadiens and two of the Montreal Maroons, for whom the arena was originally built.) After the game, many previous hockey greats were presented to the crowd. The Rocket Richard(R.I.P.) got a 6 min standing ovation

If you ask me things have never been the same since...
